Arkema, a global leader in specialty materials, has received ISCC PLUS certification for its production of specialty (methacrylate) oligomers and monomers at its manufacturing sites in Chatham, Virginia, and West Chester, Pennsylvania. This certification enables the company to expand its portfolio of bio-attributed energy-curable solutions, produced under the Sartomer庐 brand, to customers worldwide.
The ISCC PLUS certification鈥攔ecognized internationally for sustainable and traceable raw material sourcing鈥攆urther enhances Arkema鈥檚 global network of certified facilities. In addition to the newly certified U.S. sites, the company鈥檚 resin production facilities in Nansha, China, and Villers-Saint-Paul, France, have also achieved this certification.
Sartomer庐鈥檚 energy-curable resin solutions play a critical role in a wide variety of industries. Applications include high-performance coatings, adhesives, inks, electronics, green mobility, 3D printing, and living comfort technologies. By integrating bio-attributed materials, Arkema helps its partners reduce their environmental impact and meet increasingly stringent sustainability goals.
鈥淚SCC PLUS is an important certification for our industry,鈥 said Stephanie Montag, regional president of Sartomer庐 Americas. 鈥淲e can now offer customers worldwide access to our bio-attributed UV-LED-EB oligomers and monomers. This achievement also expands our network of certified facilities, supporting diverse technologies and helping companies across the value chain reduce their carbon footprints.鈥
Arkema鈥檚 certified Sartomer庐 solutions offer a lower carbon footprint while complementing the company鈥檚 broader bio-based product offerings. These include monomers and oligomers that contain up to 85% bio-based content. Several products in the line also carry the USDA Certified Biobased Product label, awarded through the USDA BioPreferred庐 Program.
This milestone aligns with Arkema鈥檚 long-term strategy to broaden its portfolio of sustainable materials. The company aims to progressively introduce a comprehensive range of bio-attributed specialty resins and additives, including high solids, waterborne, UV-LED-EB, and polyester powder technologies.
The addition of ISCC PLUS-certified products from Chatham and West Chester underscores Arkema鈥檚 commitment to innovation and sustainability in the specialty chemicals sector. The company continues to position itself as a key partner in advancing environmentally responsible materials that support circularity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
With these certifications, Arkema strengthens its global leadership in sustainable resin technologies and reaffirms its dedication to supporting industries in achieving climate-related objectives.
Leveraging its strong expertise in materials science, Arkema provides a portfolio of advanced technologies to meet the growing demand for sustainable materials. Aiming to become a pure player in Specialty Materials, the Group is organized into three innovative and resilient segments鈥擜dhesive Solutions, Advanced Materials, and Coating Solutions鈥攚hich together represented around 92% of its 2024 sales, alongside a competitive Intermediates segment. Arkema delivers cutting-edge solutions to tackle key global challenges such as renewable energy, water access, recycling, urbanization, and mobility, while maintaining ongoing engagement with all stakeholders.
