Blue Star Extends Helium Offtake Deal Through March 2027

Blue Star Helium extends its Pi帽on Canyon helium offtake agreement through March 2027, supporting revenue continuity and long-term commercialization efforts.

Blue Star Helium has secured a seven-month extension to its helium offtake agreement covering all helium produced at its Pi帽on Canyon plant in Colorado, US. The extended agreement will now remain in effect until 31 March 2027, providing continued sales visibility as the company works toward establishing longer-term commercial arrangements.

The original offtake agreement was scheduled to expire on 31 August 2026. Under the extension, the pricing structure will remain fixed throughout the additional seven-month period. Blue Star Helium has not disclosed the identity of the purchaser or specific pricing terms. However, the company confirmed that the buyer is the same US corporation that served as its counterparty when the initial agreement was announced on 4 June.

Operationally, helium deliveries from the Pi帽on Canyon plant are continuing according to schedule. Blue Star has completed delivery of its fourth tube trailer of helium and is currently filling a fifth trailer. The company said trailer exchanges remain on schedule, indicating continued operational consistency at the facility.

The Pi帽on Canyon plant processes gas supplied from the Galactica Project in Las Animas County, Colorado. Helium One Global, Blue Star鈥檚 joint venture partner, holds a 50% working interest in the project.

Blue Star Managing Director Trent Spry said the continuation of the existing supply relationship demonstrates confidence in the plant鈥檚 output while the company advances discussions regarding longer-term offtake agreements. He described the extension as meaningful validation of the plant鈥檚 production capability and the broader potential of the project.

According to Blue Star, the seven-month extension provides greater continuity for helium deliveries and revenue generation while negotiations over longer-term commercial arrangements continue. The agreement also reduces near-term sales uncertainty as the company focuses on expanding production.

Blue Star鈥檚 immediate operational priorities include maintaining reliable helium sales and cash flow, completing planned activities designed to increase production toward the plant鈥檚 nameplate capacity, and finding a commercial solution for the carbon dioxide produced alongside helium.

Blue Star Helium is an Australia-based helium exploration and production company with assets and exploration activities across North America. The company is focused on developing helium resources to meet demand from industries that depend on reliable supplies of the critical industrial gas.

Product Impact

The extension is positive for helium because it secures a buyer for the plant鈥檚 production through March 2027 and supports predictable revenue and cash flow. Continued deliveries also demonstrate operational reliability and may strengthen Blue Star鈥檚 position during negotiations for longer-term contracts. If output increases toward the plant鈥檚 design capacity, additional helium supply could improve availability for downstream users. However, the fixed pricing under the agreement limits any immediate upside from potential spot-market price increases. Overall, the development provides greater supply certainty and commercial stability for the helium market.
