Duke Energy and GE Vernova have announced a strategic agreement to supply natural gas turbines and associated equipment as part of a long-term plan to meet increasing energy demands across Duke Energy鈥檚 growing service areas. This collaboration supports the surge in energy use driven by expanding advanced manufacturing operations, the rise of data centers and overall population growth.

The partnership outlines plans to move forward with projects for up to 11 GE Vernova 7HA gas turbines, in alignment with Duke Energy鈥檚 integrated resource plans. These turbines will play a critical role in helping Duke Energy maintain reliable service, manage customer costs and prepare for even the most aggressive growth scenarios anticipated in the years ahead. This initiative follows the recent acquisition of eight 7HA gas turbines, signaling Duke Energy鈥檚 continued investment in high-performance infrastructure.

鈥淎s we continue to experience unprecedented growth in our service territories, securing the necessary materials to build critical infrastructure and meet the growing energy demand is integral to delivering value for our customers and other stakeholders,鈥 said Harry Sideris, president and CEO of Duke Energy. 鈥淲e value our collaboration with forward-thinking partners who assist us in advancing our energy modernization strategy.鈥

A key enabler of this agreement is the ongoing expansion of GE Vernova鈥檚 manufacturing facility in Greenville, South Carolina. This expansion, which forms part of GE Vernova鈥檚 nearly $600 million investment in U.S. manufacturing over the next two years, includes a nearly $300 million commitment to its Gas Power business. The investment is aimed at replacing traditional manufacturing methods with lean production lines, improving supplier capacity and introducing other operational enhancements. The project is expected to create more than 1,500 new jobs across the country.

鈥淭his arrangement with Duke Energy and the significant expansion of our U.S. manufacturing facilities illustrate our ability and commitment to developing innovative solutions that our customers require to meet today鈥檚 and tomorrow鈥檚 energy demands,鈥 said Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova. 鈥淲e are proud to be able to supply these Greenville-manufactured gas turbines to a leading U.S. energy company and support its efforts to deliver dependable service to consumers.鈥

The decision to locate these gas turbines at existing Duke Energy sites will enable the utility to leverage its current infrastructure, including transmission networks. This strategy is expected to reduce overall costs and accelerate the time it takes to bring new energy capacity online.

Together, the companies are driving progress in the U.S. energy sector by combining advanced technology with strategic investments. The agreement reflects a shared vision to deliver scalable, cost-efficient and reliable energy solutions while supporting job creation and innovation in domestic manufacturing.
