Honeywell and Argent LNG have signed an agreement to explore the use of Honeywell鈥檚 advanced natural gas pretreatment technologies at a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal planned for Port Fourchon, Louisiana. The collaboration aims to strengthen global energy security and reinforce the United States鈥 leadership in the LNG market.

As part of the agreement, the companies will evaluate Honeywell鈥檚 modular pretreatment systems, which help remove impurities from natural gas, improving production quality and operational efficiency. These systems include the Mercury Removal Unit (MRU), Acid Gas Removal Unit (AGRU), and SeparSIV庐 Unit. Together, they are designed to eliminate mercury, carbon dioxide, sulfur, water and heavy hydrocarbons in accordance with LNG specifications.

Honeywell鈥檚 SeparSIV庐 Unit stands out for its ability to handle varying gas compositions while potentially reducing lifecycle costs by up to 50% compared to conventional gas treatment methods.

鈥淎rgent LNG is focused on providing clean, secure and affordable energy across the globe,鈥 said Jonathan Bass, CEO of Argent LNG. 鈥淭o meet that commitment, we must deploy innovative and reliable technology. Honeywell鈥檚 solutions could be instrumental in advancing the U.S. LNG sector and ensuring we deliver the energy the world needs.鈥

The partnership comes as global demand for LNG is projected to rise by 60% by 2040, according to the Shell LNG Outlook 2025. In response, Argent LNG鈥檚 facility at Port Fourchon is designed to produce 12 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG, with potential expansion to 25 MTPA. If fully developed, it would rank among the largest LNG export terminals worldwide.

Once operational, the terminal is expected to supply LNG to markets across Asia, Europe, South America and the Middle East.

鈥淗oneywell鈥檚 innovative LNG solutions will play a key role in supporting energy security by enabling large-scale LNG production in the United States and globally,鈥 said Rajesh Gattupalli, president of Honeywell UOP. 鈥淥ur technologies can be tailored to meet specific customer needs, offering end-to-end solutions across pretreatment, liquefaction and automation.鈥

In addition to its gas processing technologies, Honeywell provides modular LNG systems that can be prefabricated off-site and transported to project locations. This approach can help reduce risk, shorten construction timelines and accelerate operational startup compared to traditional construction methods.

The collaboration underscores both companies鈥 commitment to advancing the LNG industry and delivering reliable energy to meet growing global demand.

Honeywell is a globally integrated company that operates across a wide range of industries and regions. Its business strategy is driven by three major global megatrends: automation, the future of aviation, and the energy transition. These focus areas are supported by the Honeywell Accelerator operating system and the Honeywell Forge industrial Internet of Things (IoT) platform.
