Integra Plastics upgrades for recycled polypropylene using Borcycle M technology, expanding capacity and supporting sustainable, high-quality circular economy solutions.
Integra Plastics AD, based in Bulgaria and a member of the Borealis group, is preparing to transform its production operations to manufacture polypropylene, with the upgraded facility set to commence production in October 2025. This modernization involves the integration of Borealis鈥� proprietary Borcycle鈩� M mechanical recycling technology, enabling Integra to produce a broad spectrum of recycled polypropylene (rPP), including both value-added and premium-quality grades.
Borcycle鈩� M represents an advanced approach to mechanical recycling, allowing post-consumer polyolefin waste to be converted into high-quality recycled materials suitable for demanding industrial applications. These recycled products carry a substantially lower carbon footprint compared to their virgin counterparts, offering Borealis鈥� customers a practical way to reduce environmental impact while meeting performance requirements. By harnessing this technology, Borealis strengthens its commitment to supporting a circular economy and helping clients transition toward more sustainable operations.
From October 2025 onward, Integra鈥檚 upgraded facility will shift its focus from producing recycled low-density polyethylene (rLDPE) to delivering high-quality recycled polypropylene grades. The revamp also aims to expand production capacity beyond the current 20,000 metric tons, responding to the increasing global demand for rPP across multiple sectors. These include consumer packaging, mobility solutions, and household appliance applications. The integration of Borcycle鈩� M technology, in combination with Borealis鈥� compounding expertise, allows for the further enhancement of recycled polymer properties, ensuring that the materials meet stringent technical and regulatory standards.
This strategic move aligns with Borealis鈥� mission to support customers in navigating evolving regulatory frameworks, including the European Union鈥檚 Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and the End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) directive.
