LCY and Milliken launch high-performance polypropylene grade 737U, offering enhanced impact strength, high gloss, and improved processing efficiency.
LCY, a prominent producer and supplier of polypropylene materials, has entered into a strategic collaboration with diversified global manufacturer Milliken & Company to introduce a new advanced polypropylene grade known as 737U. This innovative material integrates Milliken鈥檚 proprietary DeltaMax鈩 5000a additive technology, delivering a combination of high mechanical performance, enhanced aesthetics, and improved processing efficiency.
The newly launched 737U grade has been specifically engineered for injection molding applications that demand superior durability and structural integrity. Target end uses include paint containers, automotive components, household and commercial furniture, outdoor equipment, and containers designed to handle heavy weight loads. The grade stands out for its excellent balance of rigidity and impact resistance, making it suitable for environments where materials are frequently exposed to mechanical stress, handling, and transportation challenges.
According to Lachosi Lin, Marketing and Sales Executive at LCY, the introduction of 737U represents a meaningful advancement for both the company and its customers. Lin highlighted that close technical collaboration with Milliken has enabled LCY to deliver a polypropylene solution that not only provides strong impact performance but also achieves high surface gloss and efficient processing characteristics. This combination is increasingly important for manufacturers seeking materials that meet functional requirements while allowing greater design flexibility and visual appeal.
One of the notable commercial validations of 737U is its approval by a leading paint brand for packaging applications ranging from 3 to 20 liters. The grade has successfully passed rigorous falling and stacking tests, demonstrating its ability to maintain structural integrity under demanding logistics and storage conditions. These attributes make it particularly attractive for industrial and consumer packaging where safety, reliability, and durability are critical.
In addition to mechanical strength, 737U supports in-mold labeling (IML), enabling manufacturers to seamlessly incorporate branding, graphics, and product information directly into molded components. This capability not only enhances aesthetic quality but also improves production efficiency by eliminating secondary labeling processes. Compared with conventional impact polypropylene grades, 737U delivers noticeably higher gloss, making it well suited for exterior-facing components used in consumer products where appearance plays a significant role in purchasing decisions.
Min Shun Cheng, Technical Manager at Milliken, emphasized that 737U is a strong example of how collaborative innovation can translate into tangible performance benefits. By applying DeltaMax鈩 additive technology, Milliken has supported LCY in addressing technical challenges while meeting the growing market demand for polypropylene materials that combine durability, visual appeal, and efficient manufacturing performance.
Notably, LCY was the first customer in Taiwan to adopt DeltaMax鈩 technology, leading to the region鈥檚 first commercial-grade application of this additive in 2020. The DeltaMax鈩 solution enhances processing efficiency by enabling faster cycle times, improved moldability, and more consistent part quality. With the launch of 737U, both companies reinforce their commitment to advancing polypropylene innovation and supporting manufacturers with materials designed for modern performance and aesthetic expectations.
