In mid-April xxxx, the prices of Methyl N-Amyl Ketone (MAK) experienced a decline which is primarily attributed to the decrease in the cost of its feedstock acetone coupled with subdued demand from downstream industries. MAK is primarily utilized in the formulation of paints, coating and lacquers where its excellent solvency and moderate evaporation rate make it ideal for improving flow and levelling.
The settled price shows a decline from the previous month due to tariffs imposed by the U.S., but the temporary suspension of increased tariffs has provided much-needed relief to downstream industries such as automotive, paints and coatings and personal care, where MAK is widely used as a solvent and fragrance ingredient.
