In the second half of January ****, Methylene Diphenyl Diisocyanate (MDI) prices rose across the European market amid tight supply, higher feedstock and energy costs, and cautious production by manufacturers.
MDI consumption in Europe was stable during the month, on the back of supportive end-use industries, but limited by broader economic uncertainty. Demand was led by rigid foam applications; the continued requirement for insulation鈥俰n the building, refrigeration, and industrial projects counterbalanced the slower activity in winter. Energy efficiency鈥俻rogrammes and renovation of buildings in several countries contributed to the demand for spray foam and for insulating panels. The automotive and鈥俛ppliance industries offered consistent demand in the form of moulded foams, adhesives, and composite materials, although manufacturers remained cautious with production schedules.
