Melamine Prices Mixed Globally Amid Plant Shutdowns, Trade Pressures, and Energy Costs

Melamine prices in Asia climbed in March xxxx as several plants went offline for planned upkeep, cutting supply. In Europe, though, prices slipped because of low demand downstream in the downstream. The U.S. market saw a slight gain, supported by seasonal demand. A demand recovery is expected in the coming months.

In China, melamine prices moved up slightly due to scheduled maintenance at several plants, which reduced overall supply. While these shutdowns were planned, they helped tighten availability and supported prices. Feedstock urea prices also remained high, pushing up production costs for melamine.

Production at some units resumed later in the month, increasing supply. However, the downstream industries&#xx; weak demand鈥攑articularly for furniture, laminates, and coatings鈥攃oincided with the supply&#xx;s recovery.Slow orders and fewer bulk buyer inquiries were noted by traders.Overall, sentiment stayed low.
