For the week which ended on 19 September 2025, the PBAT markets moved at different rates in different regions. In Europe and China, the markets remained stable and production was steady; there was balanced supply and consistent demand for packaging, agriculture, and biodegradable films. Imports helped fill any gaps in demand without disrupting the equilibrium, and feedstock costs were stable. In China, production remained steady, and a recent announcement about a new project to expand PBAT and Polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) capacity indicates confidence in future demand, but did not affect short-term trends. In the U.S., however, PBAT prices edged a little higher this week due to imports from Asia and seasonal packaging demand. Looking ahead, we expect markets in Europe and China to remain stable, while the U.S. market may experience some upward pressure if feedstock costs increase, and/or if seasonal demand comes into play.
In the week ending September xx, xxxx, the Polybutylene Adipate Terephthalate (PBAT) market revealed divergent behavior across prominent regions. In Europe and China, prices were mainly flat as supply and demand factors stabilized the market. In the United States however, PBAT prices reflected a slight uptick, supported by consistent imports from Asia and a more favorable buying attitude before the seasonal packaging demand.
In Europe, FOB Hamburg PBAT prices were stable at approximately USD xxxx/MT, unchanged from the prior week. The market fundamentals were stable, as domestic manufacturers were running steadily, while imports from other European plants supplemented a stable domestic supply without increasing inventory. Feedstock prices for adipic acid, PTA, and BDO were relatively flat, allowing manufacturers to maintain their margins without any major changes.
