Plug Power Inc., a global provider of hydrogen solutions, has announced an expanded collaboration with Allied Green Ammonia (AGA) through a new 2-gigawatt electrolyzer agreement tied to a major green fuels project in Uzbekistan. The agreement was formalized at the Tashkent International Investment Forum, where Plug President Sanjay Shrestha and Allied Green Managing Director Alfred Benedict represented their companies during the official signing.
The electrolyzer systems provided by Plug will serve as the technological foundation of a $5.5 billion green chemical production facility in Uzbekistan. The plant will produce sustainable aviation fuel, green urea and green diesel, and is backed by the Government of Uzbekistan. This development further solidifies Plug鈥檚 position as a leading electrolyzer provider for global decarbonization projects.
鈥淭his latest expansion with Allied Green demonstrates how Plug is leading the global hydrogen transition with proven electrolyzer technology and industrial-scale execution,鈥 said Plug CEO Andy Marsh. 鈥淲ith a 5 GW partnership now spanning two continents, this is a defining example of our ability to deliver for customers building the future of energy.鈥
Allied Green first partnered with Plug through a 3 GW electrolyzer deal for its flagship green ammonia facility in Australia. The Uzbekistan project represents a continuation of this relationship and underscores the shared ambition to scale green hydrogen and ammonia production worldwide. The final investment decision for the Uzbekistan facility is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.
鈥淭his agreement reflects our deep confidence in Plug鈥檚 team, technology and ability to deliver on bold, world-class projects,鈥 Benedict said. 鈥淭ogether, we are creating meaningful momentum for global decarbonization鈥攆irst in Australia, now in Uzbekistan, and in future regions to come.鈥
Shrestha added that Plug鈥檚 expanding role in such projects illustrates the company鈥檚 ability to meet ambitious decarbonization goals with scalable electrolyzer solutions. 鈥淎s we grow our relationship with Allied Green, we are united in a shared vision to accelerate the global transition to low-carbon hydrogen across industries and geographies,鈥 he said.
Plug鈥檚 electrolyzer technology is currently deployed or under development across five continents, supporting clients in the industrial, transportation, energy and chemical sectors. With this deal, Plug continues to position itself as a critical player in the global hydrogen economy, offering end-to-end solutions for the energy transition.
Plug is driving the development of the global hydrogen economy through a fully integrated ecosystem that includes hydrogen production, storage, delivery, and power generation. As an industry pioneer, the company offers a comprehensive range of solutions鈥攊ncluding electrolyzers, liquid hydrogen, fuel cell systems, storage tanks, and fueling infrastructure鈥攕erving sectors such as material handling, industrial operations, and energy production. Plug鈥檚 technology supports large-scale decarbonization and promotes energy independence across key industries.
