Prices for Group II H600 base oil in the US were steady during the first week of September 2025, as the supply-demand balance remained in check. With summer on the wane post-Labor Day (September 1), softening demand in the lubricant sector was expected due to the seasonal end of the summer driving season. During August, crude oil prices softened; however, this had minimal or little impact on base oil pricing due to inherent risks from an explosion at Smitty's Supply Inc.'s Roseland plant and weather.
