Most imports into the US continue to come from a few sources: China and Canada supplied most of the recent shipments. While imports are increasing overall, domestic suppliers still do not have enough new production capacity to meet demand. According to traders, freight and port congestion, as well as trade route changes, caused the January CFR and FOB offers for the聽STPP聽grades used for making detergent to increase significantly, which was why US buyers experienced immediate price pressures.
