Henkel, a global leader in adhesives, sealants and functional coatings, has partnered with Sasol, a leading expert in Fischer-Tropsch technology, to advance low-emission adhesive solutions. The collaboration focuses on integrating Sasol鈥檚 new SASOLWAX LC product line into Henkel鈥檚 TECHNOMELT庐 adhesive portfolio, targeting markets in Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa.

This strategic move supports Henkel鈥檚 goal of reducing absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030, using 2021 as the base year. The key innovation in this partnership is SASOLWAX LC100, produced through Sasol鈥檚 enhanced Fischer-Tropsch process. It offers a 35% cradle-to-gate reduction in product carbon footprint (PCF) compared to established alternatives, all without compromising on adhesive performance.

SASOLWAX LC100 serves as a drop-in replacement in Henkel鈥檚 legacy formulations, allowing manufacturers to adopt the new material without changing existing production processes. The adhesives are used widely in packaging for consumer goods, including food, beverage, hygiene and personal care products. By incorporating SASOLWAX LC100, brands can enhance their sustainability efforts while maintaining quality and efficiency.

The PCF calculations for the SASOLWAX LC product range follow ISO 14040, 14044 and 14067 standards and are independently reviewed, ensuring transparency and credibility in environmental reporting.

Beyond adhesives, the companies plan to explore the use of renewable and recycled feedstocks. Sasol鈥檚 adaptable synthesis technology and shared innovation efforts will support the ongoing development of sustainable materials.
