PPG Launches Sustainable PPG EnviroLuxe Plus Powder Coatings with Recycled Plastic

PPG has unveiled its new PPG EnviroLuxe Pluspowder coatings, a sustainable innovation that incorporates up to 18% post-industrial recycled plastic (rPET) and is manufactured without the use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Designed to meet the evolving needs of environmentally conscious manufacturers, this product reflects PPG’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and performance.

The new powder coatings offer significant environmental benefits without compromising quality. By eliminating polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fluoropolymers and integrating rPET, PPG EnviroLuxe Plus coatings can achieve up to a 30% reduction in carbon footprint compared to conventional durable powder coatings. The product also delivers the inherent sustainability advantages of powder coatings, including high transfer efficiency, reclaimable overspray that minimizes waste, and low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

The EnviroLuxe Plus coatings are part of PPG’s broader EnviroLuxe powder coatings portfolio, which is engineered to combine durability, aesthetic appeal and environmental responsibility. This portfolio also includes:

PPG EnviroLuxe rPET: Formulated with up to 18% post-industrial recycled plastic and a proprietary polyester resin that includes up to 40% rPET content.

PPG EnviroLuxe PFAS NIA: A non-PFAS alternative that enhances sustainability without sacrificing performance.

These coatings are suitable for a wide array of applications, including metal office furniture, outdoor fencing, shelving and racking systems. Available in a wide range of standard and custom colors—including metallic finishes—the coatings provide manufacturers with both aesthetic versatility and high-performance durability.
