Toyo Engineering & Construction Sdn. Bhd. (Toyo-Malaysia), a subsidiary of Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO), has been awarded a contract by PRPC Utilities and Facilities Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation (PRPC). The project involves the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) of the Outside Battery Limit (OSBL) facilities for a new biorefinery plant within the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) in Johor, Malaysia.

PIC, one of Southeast Asia鈥檚 largest refinery and petrochemical hubs, is currently developing a biorefinery plant dedicated to producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). SAF plays a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions in the aviation industry, and this project aligns with Malaysia鈥檚 sustainability goals and the global transition toward cleaner fuels. Toyo-Malaysia鈥檚 extensive experience in plant construction and infrastructure development was instrumental in securing this large-scale project.

The OSBL facilities are essential for integrating the SAF production plant with the existing infrastructure within PIC. These facilities will provide critical utilities, support systems, and connectivity to ensure the biorefinery operates efficiently. Toyo-Malaysia's role in delivering these essential components highlights its expertise in managing complex engineering projects within the energy and petrochemical sectors.

This contract follows Toyo-Malaysia鈥檚 successful 2024 award for constructing a spent catalyst recycling facility, further reinforcing its reputation as a trusted engineering and construction partner in Malaysia. The company has been actively involved in multiple industrial projects that contribute to Malaysia鈥檚 economic growth and environmental sustainability.

With the increasing global demand for SAF, the Pengerang biorefinery is expected to play a key role in supplying sustainable aviation fuel to both domestic and international markets. The project supports the aviation sector鈥檚 decarbonization efforts and strengthens Malaysia鈥檚 position as a regional leader in renewable energy and green fuel production.

As part of its commitment to sustainability, Toyo-Malaysia aims to ensure that the OSBL infrastructure is designed and constructed with high efficiency and environmental responsibility. The company鈥檚 expertise in advanced engineering solutions will help optimize the facility鈥檚 operations while maintaining compliance with stringent industry standards.

By undertaking this project, Toyo-Malaysia continues to support Malaysia鈥檚 industrial expansion while advancing global efforts toward a more sustainable energy future. The successful execution of this contract will further solidify Toyo-Malaysia鈥檚 position as a key player in the development of next-generation energy infrastructure.

Toyo Engineering Corporation has been a leader in engineering innovation since 1961, providing advanced project solutions across diverse industries, including oil and gas, renewable energy, and petrochemicals. Operating in over 60 countries, TOYO combines cutting-edge expertise with a strong commitment to excellence, helping businesses enhance operational efficiency and drive sustainable development. Guided by its mission, "Engineering for Sustainable Growth of the Global Community," TOYO remains dedicated to delivering innovative solutions that support industrial progress and create lasting benefits for communities worldwide.
