Wison Engineering Secures FEED Contract for Turkey鈥檚 First Biogas-to-Methanol Project with WasteFuel

On March 19, 2025, Wison Engineering hosted the signing ceremony for the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract of the ITC-WasteFuel Ankara Green Methanol Project at its Shanghai headquarters. This project represents a significant milestone as Turkey鈥檚 first initiative to convert biogas from waste treatment facilities into green methanol.

The ceremony was attended by key representatives from all involved parties, including Mr. David Trench, CEO of WasteFuel; Mr. Johan Fritz, Global Project Director of WasteFuel; Mr. Yavuz Kantur, General Manager of ITC; Mr. Zhou Hongliang, CEO of Wison Engineering; and other senior executives from Wison Engineering, including Mr. Qi Guosheng, Mr. Yuan Jun, Mr. Dun Li, and Mr. Liu Hengwei, alongside the company鈥檚 marketing team.

The ITC-WasteFuel Ankara Green Methanol Project aims to harness biogas generated from ITC鈥檚 waste treatment facilities in Ankara to produce sustainable methanol. As a prominent global energy and chemical EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) service provider, Wison Engineering will be responsible for the FEED design, setting the foundation for the project鈥檚 successful execution.

During the signing event, all parties expressed their enthusiasm and optimism about the collaboration. Mr. David Trench, CEO of WasteFuel, emphasized the importance of this phase in the project鈥檚 development, stating, 鈥淭his next stage is critical, and we are pleased to have Wison Engineering as our partner. This project has the potential to become a benchmark in the global green methanol sector.鈥

Mr. Zhou Hongliang, CEO of Wison Engineering, echoed this sentiment, adding, 鈥淲e are honored to work alongside WasteFuel and ITC in delivering the Ankara Green Methanol Project. This endeavor further strengthens our expertise in biogas-to-methanol technology and marks another major step in Wison Engineering鈥檚 evolution within the new energy sector. ITC Turkey鈥檚 General Manager, Mr. Yavuz Kantur, highlighted the project鈥檚 broader impact, stating, 鈥淏eyond producing a low-carbon fuel, this initiative offers an innovative solution for managing the 1.8 million tons of municipal waste currently processed at our Ankara site. Wison鈥檚 experience in executing groundbreaking energy projects gives me full confidence in this next phase.鈥

The signing of the FEED contract represents a major step forward for the ITC-WasteFuel Ankara Green Methanol Project. Green methanol is a low-carbon, renewable fuel with the potential to significantly reduce emissions in the shipping industry, supporting the sector鈥檚 transition to cleaner energy solutions.
