Prestige beauty brand SUQQU has launched a sustainable setting powder compact featuring Eastman Cristal™ One, a recyclable copolyester that blends luxury with environmental responsibility.
In response to growing demand for sustainable packaging, SUQQU collaborated with Eastman to find an alternative to acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) for the compact’s base plate. The result was Cristal One, which met SUQQU’s strict functional and aesthetic standards while offering a recyclable option for consumers.
Cristal One belongs to Eastman’s portfolio of sustainable materials designed specifically for cosmetics packaging. Recognized by both the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) and RecyClass, Cristal One is compatible with the RIC1 (resin identification code 1) recycling stream. This allows it to be processed through most standard municipal recycling systems, providing brands with an end-of-life solution for their packaging.
As global regulations on sustainability tighten, SUQQU has aligned its packaging development with the European Commission’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR). The new compact reflects the brand’s ongoing efforts to meet these evolving standards while maintaining a luxury experience for consumers.
Cristal One offers enhanced durability and visual appeal compared to traditional materials. It outperforms PET in critical areas such as drop impact resistance following secondary processing. The material also enables a flawless shape and a glossy black finish—attributes that elevate the product’s premium feel.
“Consumers are increasingly demanding sustainable beauty options, but they’re not willing to sacrifice design and elegance,” said Tara Cary, marketing manager for cosmetic packaging at Eastman. “Cristal One enables brands like SUQQU to meet these expectations while making progress toward environmental goals.”
According to Cary, SUQQU’s new compact has resonated strongly with consumers. “People love that the product is beautiful, durable and reusable,” she said. “It feels like a luxury accessory—something you’re proud to show off—and it empowers consumers to make environmentally responsible choices.”
Since launching the updated compact in February, SUQQU’s setting powder has exceeded sales expectations, achieving more than 187% of its monthly target.
SUQQU’s parent company, Kao Corporation, has a longstanding partnership with Eastman. Kao continues to rely on Eastman for its professional expertise, technical support, marketing collaboration and high-quality materials.
With this latest launch, SUQQU continues to blend innovation, design and sustainability—demonstrating how luxury beauty can evolve to meet modern environmental standards without compromising quality or style.
